St Johns Shopping Centre is saddened to learn of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen.
As the longest reigning monarch in British history, the Queen has long occupied a special place in the hearts of millions of Britons and those living in Commonwealth nations around the world.
At this time, our team reflects not just on Her Majesty’s remarkable achievements and steadfast commitment to public duty, but on her special connection to St Johns, having opened the centre to the public in 1971.
Her Majesty also had a special connection to the city of Liverpool, having attended a service of thanksgiving at the opening of Liverpool Cathedral in 1978; the opening of Liverpool John Lennon Airport in 2000; and the opening of the new Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in 2016.
Her leadership, humour, kindness and impact in the city of Liverpool, across the rest of the UK and around the world will be remembered for generations to come.
The St Johns community will, like many millions across the world, be observing a period of mourning and we would ask our shoppers and those within our community to join us in showing respect at this time.
