Nearly one in every five people in the UK has a disability or impairment. Their collective spending power – the Purple Pound – is worth £249 billion to the UK economy. However, this potential is not being fully realised. There are still real (and perceived) barriers that make it harder for disabled people to spend money in-store, and enjoy a drink or meal out. The aim of Purple Tuesday is to make customer-facing businesses more aware of these opportunities and challenges and inspire them to make changes to improve the disabled customer experience over the long term.

On Tuesday 12th November, St Johns Shopping Centre is celebrating Purple Tuesday by turning – you guessed it – purple! Our team will be wearing purple on the day!

Make sure you join us from 12pm for the launch of our brand new digital assistant, Able Liverpool, followed by a local choir, Sing Me Merseyside. Our very own Purple Santa will be around the centre on the day also giving out treats!

Our festive Christmas light switch-on will then begin from 5pm!
