To mark Family Safety Week St Johns Shopping Centre is giving out thousands of wrist bands to children visiting the centre.
The giveaway is part of the centre’s long running Child Safe Scheme;a safety initiative that encourages an enjoyable, safe and relaxed family shopping experience at St Johns.
Robert Bradley, St Johns Shopping Centre Manager, said: “We are proud to be supporting Family Safety Week with our Child Safe Scheme. It is important to us that our visitors know the centre is a safe environment and that we care about the safety of their children.
“St Johns is proud to be part of the local community and we are committed to making this community a safer place.”
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) research has revealed that accidents remain the biggest killer of children and young people.
Family Safety Week focuses on protecting some of the most vulnerable, younger members of the community and aims to end this tragic toll of 0-4 year olds.
ROSPA’s Keeping Kids Safe campaign stresses the importance of child safety when out and about; whether that’s popping to the shops, or going aboard.
Mr Bradley added: “We urge our visitors to take care of themselves and their children when travelling to and from the centre to ensure a safer environment for all to enjoy.”
