In celebration of International Women’s Day over the weekend, we were delighted to welcome WHISC (Women’s Health Information & Support Centre) to St Johns. Their dedicated team set up a stand within the centre, offering leaflets, advice, and vital information about their incredible services for women across Liverpool.
Based on Bold Street, WHISC is fantastic charity that works for women, by women! Through their commitment to improving the health and well-being of women and their families across Liverpool, WHISC provides essential training, information, and support to help tackle health inequalities and break down barriers to healthcare and education.
Their mission is to address health inequalities and offer tailored support to those facing barriers to healthcare and education. During their visit, WHISC’s friendly team was on hand to chat with shoppers, share information, and offer guidance on the many free services they provide, including:
- Listening Ear Sessions – A safe and confidential space for women to talk and access support.
- Health Information – Clear, reliable advice on key women’s health topics.
- Advice & Resources – Practical help with navigating tough situations and accessing local services.
- Specialist Support – Tailored services for refugee, asylum-seeking, and migrant women.
- Anti-Poverty Support – Assistance for those facing financial hardship.
WHISC shared their appreciation for the outreach opportunity, stating:
“We would like to thank St Johns Shopping Centre for providing WHISC with an outreach space, so that we could reach more women at the community level.
It was really productive; we spoke to more than 60 women and 75% of those had not heard of or used WHISC services previously. We know that many women have busy lives and may not have found out about the support available to them, without the partnership working with St Johns Shopping Centre and reaching into women, where they are.”
We’re proud to support WHISC and the incredible work they do for women across Liverpool. If you or someone you know could benefit from their services, visit their centre on Bold Street or check out their website here to learn more.
