We did it!
We joined together with our amazing charity partner, Zoe’s Place Children’s Hospice, to make one great big difference on One Great Day.
The centre teamed up with Zoe’s Place for a family fun takeover, which took place on Saturday June 23, putting on a full day of activities for all ages, stalls, a free group salsa session and flash mob dance, and welcomed a few other surprise guests. One Great Day is a UK-wide annual charity date, encouraging friends and families to have a great time whilst raising money for a great cause, and St Johns was at the heart of the fund-raising in Liverpool.
From 10am, shoppers and the public got involved in games and stalls, face-painting and balloon-modelling for children, as well as a selfie mirror, where everyone could get snap happy and share their favourite photos.
Radio City’s Claire Simmo made a special guest appearance from 11am, joining in the games and keeping the fun going with live updates on social media. Between 1pm and 2pm the tempo stepped up, as Spanish dance expert Esteban got everyone moving to the Latin beat in a free salsa class. Just move your feet, sway your hips and let the rhythms do the rest! And whilst the energy was on a high, Liverpool dance troupe MD Productions took over from 3pm to 4pm to keep it going with a flash mob dance.
The centre raised a whopping £1,328 in total, with efforts both online and in the centre that weekend.
Community Fundraiser for Zoe’s Place, said One Great Day was a great opportunity for the charity to raise much-needed funds and awareness.
“Partnering with St Johns since April has been a huge boost for us, and given us platform to reach so many more supporters which we really appreciate,” she said. “One Great Day gave us a chance to build on that and we hope everyone really enjoyed being part of it.”
