Chinese New Year Parade — Liverpool City Centre

21st – 22nd Jan January
Liverpool welcomes Chinese New Year 2026 – the Year of the Horse with a spectacular programme of city-centre celebrations, including parade routes close to St Johns Shopping Centre.

 

Festivities will include a vibrant Lunar New Year procession starting on Church Street at 12pm, featuring traditional street theatre, colourful Beijing-opera-inspired costumes, stilt walkers and live performers. Across the city, visitors can enjoy a festival atmosphere with dragon, lion and unicorn dances, family workshops, live music, Tai Chi demonstrations, street entertainment and craft stalls. Thousands of red lanterns will light up the city, with iconic Liverpool landmarks illuminated in celebratory colours.

 

The Chinese New Year celebrations are ideal for families, culture lovers and anyone wanting to experience one of Liverpool’s most exciting annual events.
