Nature Day with Squash Liverpool

The St Johns team recently stepped away from the centre to take part in a Nature Day with the team from Squash, an arts and health initiative focused on creative wellbeing through food, nature and community-led learning.

The morning began with a hands-on cooking session, where we prepared vegetable soup using fresh produce grown in Squash’s own garden. It was a simple but powerful reminder of the value of seasonal, locally grown ingredients and the positive impact they can have on both wellbeing and the environment.

After lunch, we spent time in the garden learning more about how herbs and vegetables are grown, before picking fresh herbs to use in cooking. The experience highlighted the importance of green spaces in supporting mental wellbeing, education and sustainable living.

Nature Day reflects St Johns’ ongoing commitment to ESG principles, bringing together environmental awareness, social connection and community partnerships in a practical and engaging way.
